Young Player Wins Heartland Poker Tour Event

David Peters of Toledo, Ohio bested the field of more than three hundred players to take home the win at the Heartland Poker Tour No-Limit Texas Hold’em Main Event. The event took place in Mount Pleasant, Michigan at the Soaring Eagle Casino where several players had hopes of winning the top prize. It was recently announced by CryptoLogic Limited, that they are investing in Mahjong Time. The investment will benefit the developer and supplier of the software to make a move toward the market in Asia. Tribal Casinos in Washington Update their Slot Machines

In November of 2006, eleven men were arrested for their supposed involvement with operating and/or working in an illegal gambling ring. The gambling ring was believed to have earned $200,000 a year in profits. Yesterday, two of the eleven men plead guilty to participating in an illegal gambling ring. Kansas Speedway Hopes to Sign Casino Deal

Trinity College Student Develops Surveillance System to Expose Blackjack Card Counters

A young PhD student from Trinity College in Dublin, Ireland, has created a way to expose casino cheaters. Wesley Cooper, a mathematician, has developed an automated surveillance system that is able to detect if a player is counting cards. This system uses statistical analysis and “smart” video cameras to build a profile of players and uses that information to spot irregularities during the card game. (25/08)

California Could Possibly Legalize Televised Bingo

Amendments were added to the Senate Bill 1369 that would allow a major growth of conventional bingo in the State but outlaw electronic versions of bingo.
