Antigua Plans to Change Gambling Regulations
Officials in the online gambling jurisdiction of Antigua and Barbuda have announced they will be changing their gambling regulations. The regulation and compliance requirements for operators will be stiffened to make sure players are safe and secure.Operators will have to have ongoing external audits and any eGaming licensees given by Antigua will be subject to the same guidelines as the financial institutions in Antigua. A program will also be enforced to help ensure compliance requirement tracking and that they meet the guidelines in the Financial Services Regulatory Commission. The program will use computer aided auditing tools as well as an information system to help with the process.
The Director of Gaming of Antigua, Kaye McDonald, commented on the changes stating: “Our regulatory model is founded on three distinct pillars, prevention of money laundering: licensee integrity, transparency and accountability: and, above all, safeguarding the interests and well-being of the players.” She also commented “Our licensees work with us collaboratively to continuously improve compliance measures, they recognize that a strong regulatory system protects their players and enhances the credibility of the industry in general, which is in everyone’s mutual interest.”
