Harrah’s Entertainment Set to Move into European Gambling Market
Harrah’s Entertainment, a giant in the gambling industry, recently announced they have established a new subsidiary called Harrah’s Interactive Entertainment. Harrah’s plans on using the new subsidiary to move into the European market very soon. Harrah’s stated that the new subsidiary will be used to explore an interactive marketing strategy for Europe as well as manage the global growth of the World Series of Poker. Mitch Garber, the former PartyPoker chief, has joined as the CEO of the subsidiary.
In a statement released by Harrah’s they commented: “in addition to growing the World Series of Poker, the new company (HIE) will explore the use of interactive gaming technologies to expand the reach of Harrah’s brands globally, starting in Europe.”
Many international markets have become a hotbed for online and new land poker events.
After moving into the European market we could see HIE moving to other destinations such as Asia and Russia. It will be very interesting to see what Harrah’s does with their new company and how it will affect the WSOP.
