New Gambling Commission Launched by United Kingdom
The government of United Kingdom has decided to launch a new national responsible gambling commission. The new commission will be filled with a board of experts problem gambling. The new responsible commission will be advising the UK Gambling Commission as well as the Department of Media, Culture and Sport.The leader of the new commission will be Baroness Neuberger and other members of the board will be Neil Goulden, Dr Henrietta Bowden-Jones, Paul Bellringer, Dr Sian Griffiths, Richard Ives, David Guy, Alan Jamieson, Dr Gerda Ruth and David Miers.
During their first year the commission will be advised by Professor Peter Collins of the Center for the Study of Gambling. The board will be working to develop a program to assist problem gamblers in the United Kingdom.
Baroness Neuberger commented on the new commission saying: “I am very pleased to be able to bring together so many talented and experienced individuals. Their collective expertise is extraordinary and while our remit is challenging I am confident that together we will deliver a robust British strategic framework for research, education and treatment.”
