US Government Task Force Created to go after online gambling operations
A new Assets Forfeiture and Financial Crimes task force has been created by the United States attorney’s office in Baltimore, Maryland to investigate online gambling operations that are currently running in the United States.

Because the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act is so confusing, it has made it difficult for people to understand the online gambling laws in the United States. The first move the task force has made was to seize bank accounts where US players were holding winnings from online gambling. Accounts in Maryland as well as other states have been seized by the new task force.

This new task force along the seizure of the gamblers funds just goes to show that the United States needs a regulation for internet gambling. The players need to be protected and hopefully Barney Frank’s movement to overturn the UIGEA will gain headway in the coming months.

Frank has two pieces of legislation he is proposing that would overturn the UIGEA and begin regulating internet gambling in the United States. He also recently gained four new co-sponsors for his efforts, so hopefully when he goes to Congress, the members will listen and something will be done to fix the problem.
